The Department of Mathematics one of the authentic departments at Government Arts and Science College, Kovilpatti. Keeping in account the demand for Mathematics education and trying to fulfill the young minds. The Government has initiated the Under Graduate programme, B.Sc Mathematics, the year 2013 with 64 ( 32 + 32 each Tamil and English medium) students. The Department has refurnished as a Post Graduate Department (M.Sc. Mathematics) in the year 2017 with 25 students. There is a fusion of both theoretical and practical knowledge to the students through seminars, guest lectures and various programs. The Department of Mathematics promotes quality education in Mathematics and empower students to develop their knowledge and skills in all fields of Mathematics. The Department has dedicated faculty members working both in pure and applied branches of Mathematics. The Department hence motivates all students to participate in competitions held within the campus and inter-collegiate to explore their talents and skills in various cultural events.
